Walter Wold papers concerning Standing Rock Reservation, 1909-1915.

Photographs, maps, financial papers, and printed material relating to Walter Wold's survey of Standing Rock Reservation in North and South Dakota. The 56 photographs, many of them taken by Wold and made into postcards with pencilled captions on the versos, depict Indians at the Reservation; U.S. allotment surveyors and their camps; the U.S. Engineers boat on the Missouri River in Mandan, North Dakota; rattlesnakes; dogs; and card photographs of unidentified people taken by Butler Studio and W. M. Michel in Vermillion, South Dakota. There are two maps, one of the Standing Rock Reservation, by C. A. Patterson, Indian and N. P. Railway. Financial papers include an allotment record book, recording names of Indians and their lots; a voucher book for recording traveling expenses; an account book for surveyors recording the names of other surveyors: Harry Sherwood, Frank Sauter, Ambroise Coffee, and George Tackett; six letters to Walter Wold, four from the Department of the Interior regarding surveying at Standing Rock. There is also a printed guide to lands on the Standing Rock Reservation and Walter Wold's business cards.
